Meet the Team: Monica Brofman, the Woman Behind your Family Photos

Posted on March 30th, 2020 in Our Family by Gabe Fredericks

Here at Philip Gabriel, we are a big family. We wanted to take this time to introduce you to all the people that make your wedding day, commercial projects, family photos, and every other photo shoot absolutely perfect! This time we will be introducing you to the woman that does all of our newborn sessions, a lot of our family sessions, our mini sessions, she does some weddings, so obviously she is one of our three main photographers. That person is Monica Brofman! On top of all of that listed above Monica also edits and processes a lot of weddings and events for us. Let’s see what this incredibly busy woman had to say to our tough interview questions!

1: How did you get started in photography?

My grandfather was a photographer and I have really always been obsessed with photographs of people.  As a kid I would buy the disposable cameras and get them developed. I still have all of the negatives!

2: If you could go to any concert past or present, what would it be?

It would have been amazing to have seen the Grateful Dead with my sister who is a dead head!!!

3: What’s one thing that you can’t live without?

My boys!  Mikey is 6 and Angelo is 3.  I am the luckiest mama in the whole wide world!!!

4: What would your dream photoshoot be?

Wandering around a white sandy beach photographing sunsets!  (DUH!)

5: What is one skill that you wish you had?

I’ve always wanted to master an instrument!  I played some as a kid but never put in the time to really master it!

6: Do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster? Why? Why not?

Not really, maybe?  No, I don’t think so. LOL He would have come out by now and yelled at the humans for all of the pollution!

7: How do you decompress?

I curl up on the couch with chips and hummus and watch TV! (after my boys are asleep) Sorry not sorry.

8: What food are you proudest to be able to cook?

My husband is a chef so I typically leave that up to him.  I made stuffed peppers thought and they were decent!!!

9: Where does the perfect road trip take you?

10: What kind of cake do you want to eat right now?

Choc cake with vanilla icing!

11: What are your pets’ names? If you don’t have a pet what would you name one?

I don’t currently have one but growing up we had two dogs, Morty and Emma.  We always thought they sounded like an old Jewish couple!

12: Why do you love working for PGP?

I get to create for a living!  Making portraits and documenting people’s lives is an honor and I’m proud to able to do it everyday.
