Why We Love First Look Wedding Photos
First looks between a couple on their wedding day are becoming more and more popular, and for good reason!
A first look allows for more time together on wedding day, more time for photos before the ceremony, and opportunities for more awesome moments to be captured.
Seeing each other before the ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to share an intimate moment with your partner amongst all the craziness and stress your wedding day can bring. This gives you time – typically away from family and friends – to enjoy each other’s company. You can take a moment to reflect on the amazing day ahead of you, and to remember what your wedding day is all about: the love you share for each other!
Since you have more time for photos before walking down the aisle, you can actually enjoy of your own cocktail hour, and don’t have to worry about missing a second of your reception as you scramble to fit in all of those pictures you wanted. This is especially helpful in the winter months, when the sun sets earlier in the day.
Of course, you can’t forget about the reactions! One of Philip Gabriel Photography’s favorite parts about taking first look wedding photos is capturing the look on the couples’ faces as they react to seeing each other for the first time on their big day. While you can absolutely get wonderful reactions from each other walking down the aisle, we often find couples are more relaxed during a first look because they are not in front of everyone at the ceremony. They are more candid with their expressions, which makes the photos all that more fun and memorable.
