Patriotic Wedding Takes Flight At The Union League Of Philadelphia

Wow, talk about an All-American love story!

Philip Gabriel Photography had the privilege of capturing Christine and Evan’s wedding ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. Their stunning reception followed at the Union League of Philadelphia.

One of our favorite things to learn about each couple is how they first met. Some of our favorite stories are of people who met years ago – but did not realize they had found “The One” until later!

We love how each couple’s story shines through on their wedding day to help narrate the story of their lives. Christine and Evan’s big day was no exception!

Christine and Evan both serve in the US Air Force – but that’s not how they met. Christine was more than happy to share their heartwarming story with us:

“Evan and I actually knew each other from high school, but we did not start dating until after college. I went to nursing school at Drexel and Evan went to the Air Force Academy. After Evan graduated, he became a pilot with the Air Force. When I finally finished nursing school, I decided to join the Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps.

When Evan found out, he got back in touch with me and wanted to know if he could give me any information or advice about joining the Air Force. We started talking and seeing each other when he would come home to Philadelphia for visits, and that’s when we started dating.

We dated through Evan’s time at F-16 pilot training for a year in Phoenix, and then a year and a half while Evan was stationed in South Korea! We moved to South Carolina and got engaged right before Evan deployed to Jordan in September, 2014. We were reunited in April, 2015 with his safe return, and married October 31, 2015. Thank you again for all of your hard work with our wedding photos. We absolutely LOVE every one of them. You do amazing work!”

The theme of their wedding was red, white, and blue, and these colors were truly stunning as they were displayed in the historic Philadelphia buildings where their wedding took place.

We felt the elegant and regal air of the Basilica was perfect for these two. The Union League followed suit, with its dark wood and patriotic background. Many of the details hinted at their story, such as an airplane ice sculpture and a propeller ‘guest book.’

One of our favorite details about the day was Evan’s shirt! He was an extremely handsome groom, dressed in his Air Force Blues, but we could see underneath it all he is still a die-hard Eagles fan.

Congratulations Evan and Christine! We hope you new life together is filled with happiness and joy (and plenty of Eagles victories)!
