The Lemon Ball At The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown
For the fourth year, Philip Gabriel Photography had the privilege of photographing Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Lemon Ball at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
If you are unfamiliar with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Alex was very young when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Through her various treatments and procedures, she became very passionate about finding a cure, especially for those around her.
By the time she passed away at age eight, her vision and organization had raised over $1 million for cancer research. The foundation was continued by her family and to this day funds over “375 cutting-edge research projects” and has raised over $75 million. Alex’s whole story can be found here.
It’s wonderful to see so many of the same faces, year after year, continuing to support Alex’s cause. It was also encouraging to see all the new faces in the crowd as the organization grows. The love and commitment this community has toward helping these children beat cancer and terminal illness truly inspires me. Many of the child-survivors, ranging from ages 6-22, gave speeches at the event and showed their support and gratitude for Alex’s vision- one that has helped to save many lives.
All-in-all the night was incredibly moving. The Marriott proved a fantastic venue for the event and The Strangers from BVT Live lit up the night with a lot of great music. The fundraiser was a huge success, selling out at over 900 guests and raising over $900,000 for the foundation. We are looking forward to a successful Lemon Ball next year, and another productive year for the foundation.
My daughter and I are already planning to host a Lemonade Stand of our own once warmer weather comes around! What a great night!
